Novelty Wedding Photo Ideas

Photos are a vital component to all weddings and newlyweds, the centre of attention, are eager to see what the photographer has captured on their special day. However, there are a number of novelty approaches that you can add to, or specialise independently of, formal photography at weddings.

One such idea is to offer to photograph all the guests as they arrive at the ceremony. You can arrive early at the location and find an appropriate backdrop, so that every photo will have background uniformity. This idea can relieve any tension that may be building between the guests.

To take this idea even further, instead of taking formal photographs of the bride, groom, family shots, etc., you can leave that approach to somebody else and you can concentrate on taking candid pictures. For this, you can mingle amongst the guests and take unorthodox photos whilst they are relaxing. You can get a plentiful supply of these shots and you don't have to ask the people to strike an awkward pose. Your efforts will also give an insight into how the guests enjoyed the wedding ceremony and the reception.

Some brides have been known to insist on disposable cameras to be placed on tables at the reception so that the guests themselves can take candid photos. However, there's two major issues with this approach. Firstly, disposable cameras are generally sub-standard and will rarely take decent photos and, secondly, most guests won't start taking the photos until well into the reception, when they could be a bit worse for wear caused by too much to drink. It would therefore be far better for all concerned to offer your 'candid camera' service from the outset.
